[EVENT Aug 26th] Beginner Pole Dance Workshop with Women in Cleantech and Sustainability LA Chapter

Pole dance artist, environmentalist and founder of Pole Dance for the Planet Maëlys Renaud will host a beginner pole dance workshop x networking event in partnership with Women in Cleantech and Sustainability (WCS) Los Angeles Chapter.

Environmentalism and the pole dance artform share in common a recent evolution from a stigmatization of the discipline to a growing popularization. Both participate in reshaping the 21st century by reexamining our relationship to the living world and to our bodies. On August 26th, Maëlys Renaud will host a pole dance initiation workshop, showcase her pole artistry, share about sustainability in the pole dance industry and create a safe space to move and network with like-minded people!

Maëlys has been a volunteer at WCS for almost two years and organized multiple events like Tackling microfiber pollution from fashion or Pathways to greener entertainment! Founded in 2011, WCS is a nonprofit 501(c)6 organization that fosters an influential network of professionals to further the roles of women in growing the green economy and making a positive impact on the environment.

Today, WCS is home to over 5,000 community members internationally, with local chapters in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles. Members consist of all genders and range from students and entry-level professionals, to founders, C-Suite executives, and investors. Women in Cleantech & Sustainability's aims to meet once a month to network and learn the latest industry developments, as well as to attain new business and personal skills from speakers and panelists. Topics covered include renewable energy (solar, wind biofuel, etc), water, smart grid, biomass, carbon reduction, sustainable transportation, energy efficiency, sustainability, green buildings, and many other technologies that aim to make our world a cleaner, more sustainable place.

This event is a unique opportunity to learn the basics of pole dance and to connect with the cleantech and sustainability community. We promise it will be fun and inspiring!

Join the first beginner pole dance workshop x sustainability networking event!

Who is it for? Everyone is welcome! You don’t need to have a dance or movement background to join the workshop.

When & where is it hosted? August 26th 5:30-7:30pm at the Brewery Artists Lofts (Arts District/China Town area, Los Angeles - exact location will be send out 2 days before the event).

What do I need to bring? A comfortable sports’ outfit (tank top/sports bra and shorts), a yoga mat and a reusable water bottle. A refreshing flowery non-alcoholic drink will be provided!

Event agenda (time in PT)

• 5:30-5:45 Arrival

• 5:45-6:15 Introduction and warmup

• 6:15-7:15 Learn basic tricks and a simple choreography

• 7:15-7:20 Performance by Maëlys

• 7:20-7:30 Cool down and talk about pole dance & sustainability
